The fact that you guys take so long on these is pathetic. I read other manga like Naruto and Bleach and they are finished The day they come out.

It's easily understandable that things can get in the way of doing something like this, but waiting 2-3 weeks on your slow ass is just annoying.

Thank god I know another place to get this.

I have my computer now, woot! :D It doesn't have all my programs on it, because my old computer pretty much completely died in the middle of the switch... But my dad had the foresight to bring the Paintshop installer disk, so it should all be good as long as it doesn't ask for the registration key. :3 (And if it does... I'll just download a demo version somewhere.)

Also I'd like to point out that Naruto and Bleach chapters are only like fifteen pages long. Fullmetal Alchemist is often upwards of forty. I'm not saying that justifies how long this is taking, just that it's like comparing apples with GIGANTIC MUTANT MAN-EATING APPLES.
 

Thanks for the update, Umeko, I hope you don't let the whiners get you down because REALLY, how ungrateful can you get? Y'all ought to be kissing their feet not complaining about how LONG it's taking, would you RATHER wait for Viz to get around to it?
 

In response to the comment a few spots above, what's really pathetic is that someone can be that ungrateful and critical and not even have the guts to put a name on the comment.

Have some patience people, I usually forget a lot of the details in the month in between chapters anyway so this works out well for me.

and wtf at the whining guy at the top! like umeko said, naruto and bleach are 15 pages long and fma 40 and more... what she didn't say was that bleach and naruto doesn't have REAL TEXT in it ;P its been 8 chapters of battle-only in bleach: not too hard to translate! and these scanlation got 4-5 people on them from where I get them... here, they're only 2! oh, and one more point: they got LIVES.

Now, on the other, this may ultimately end up in you giving up on the translations, or, like me, angry bastards coming at you because they can't read japanese and you're holding your charity (Yeah, that's what it is, 'cause you're asking nothing for the translations, and there's a big Thank You for ya) of promising you'll deliver us the neatly translated mangas.

^yeah, it is a bit enfuriating, though I'd say more like frustrating BUT... what're you gonna do? lock them up when the raw comes out until they've finished the scanlation? NO, so the only things you (an me, and everyone else) can do are either go read it in another place or wait... complaining will only make them feel bad and maybe (hopefully not) consider dropping the scanlations because of the pressure. would that make you feel better?

The longer it takes you, the less time we have to wait for the next RAW. ^^ -nod nod- I mean, in my opinion, chapter 73 wasn't all that interesting that people should be complaining about the long wait, anyway. The pictures described the whole story, you don't need a translation for it.

To all the peepz that say that they're dissapointed in ZOMGFTA. They do this for free so have some respect for them, they don't actually earn any money from this. So stop nagging: "Get this chapter finished as fast as possible." They do this, so they decide when this chapter is finished scanlated.
 

July is a busy month. I knew that it would be, but I didn't think it'd be this busy. ^^;

It looks like the release of this - er, last month's scanlation is going to be pushing up against this month's RAW (though I'll get it done as soon as possible), but there is a potential advantage there: I usually get into a kind of "zone" when I reach the last ten pages or so of a chapter and just churn them out. If I have to do chapter 74 directly afterwards, maybe I'll just keep going strong and finish that chapter really quickly. XD; I'm not promising that, and I'm not saying that I'll try that in the future even if it does work. Just... for now, I think that would be good.

Oh, and I forgot to mention this before, but my new computer does not have Vista. Worry not!

...Ca-raaaaap most of my fonts are gone (all but the system fonts - only two of which I use for scanlations). I sure hope my dad saved them somewhere and I'm just not finding them, because I paid good money for some of the best ones. ;_;

Also, your scanlations are such good quality, that i'd rather wait a little extra time for your stuff to come out than go somewhere else for worse quality scanlations. So dont listen to those unappreciative jerks. ^ ^

I managed to get ALL my fonts back (my old hard drive was seriously corrupted, as was the external hard drive we copied everything to, which was why I was so worried; I've lost a chunk of my old files as it is), AND PSP is installed and ready to use.

Though they weren't needed, thanks for the links to font sites, guys. XD I do remember where to get all my comic book fonts (LOM!, Anime Ace, Creativeblock, etc.), so I wasn't concerned about those. The ones I were worried about were all the random fonts that I'd accumulated from random sites (that I never saved the locations of) over the years, and also Rivenshield and Entrails, for which I had to pay $20 each. But it's all good, yaaaay. 8D
 

Wow.... this months raw might actually come out before the scanlation of last months D: *shakes head sadly* At this point, if you're still waiting around to read this scanlation, you must be a pretty hardcore zomgfta fan. So if you are, quit complaining. If you're not, go read it somewhere else. I love zomgfta but I read the chapter weeks ago, there are other alternatives (even though we don't like them as much).
 

Can I just say that Tyrelsm is a douchebag and needs to STFU? Because seriously, bashing ZOMGFTA for lateness is just sheer douchebaggery. These people spend serious time getting out these chapters to those of us who can't read a lick of Japanese and Tyrelsm just kicks everyone in the nuts and says that they suck. You know what? I haven't read any other scanlation yet, I've been waiting this whole time for ZOMGFTA because I love their scanlations the most and because of the cute little omakes that they add in. I'm sure you already realized this but there are many links between Harry Potter and Fullmetal Alchemist. For instance, the british edition of the first book is entitled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Also for those who might of missed it, on page 78 of "Philosopher's Stone" a chocolate frog card is mentioned with the historical alchemist Paracelsus whose full name was Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus Von HOHENHEIM. P.S. Finished Hallows in 22 hours, fastest i've ever read a book!
 

Sorry, but I don't think there's a direct link between Harry Potter & FMA, it's just that (more or less) both of them related to alchemy, and in these cases overlaps are unavoidable, let alone mentioning Paracelsus - I'm sure you cand find links through him to the UFOs and Nazis as well . By the way, today I succeeded to get Deathly Hallows , looking forward to it ^^
 

I agree with musungu. While there are some connections between Fullmetal Alchemist and the Harry Potter series, I feel that they are more or less very small and negligent. And musungu, I hope you enjoy the seventh book! It really was amazing.. The best of the series, I think.

I've really enjoyed your translations up to this point but it seems like you guys have ran out of enthusiasm for this project. Rather than plugging away and having this turn into a tedious chore just stop all together. Faithful readers of FMA will be able to track down other scanlations. IF one day you feel ready to take up the task of scanlation again, we will all be here waiting to heap you with loads of thanks.

To the anonymous who said that there is a link between FMA and HP due to the Philosopher's Stone (an actual myth) and the name Hohenheim - Philip von Hohenheim (aka Philippus Theophrastus Aureolus Bombastus von Hohenheim,) was an actual man who lived in Switzerland during the early 1400s. He was a very arrogant alchemist/physician, and his name appears in a lot of fiction.
 

And actually Nicolas Flamel IS actually a real person believed to create the original philosophers stone. Look him up and you will see. Not to mention he is the very same person doumbledore claims to acquire the philosophers stone from in Harry Potter. Why i don't recall there being any mention of Nick Flamel in Fullmetal Alchemist there is a definite link.

Oooh, but don't you guys see? It's a GOOD thing that the translations come out so late!! That means that when chapter 74 comes out, they'll be in the mood to finish that one up, nice and quick~! ^^ I've gone through the trouble of getting a new computer- I understand. It's not as important as what happened with Umeko, but I lost all of my Sims and short novels. xD My poor Siiims...~
Anyway, as for the Harry Potter thing, I've linked it to FMA in my own twisted ways. Mainly the Philosopher's Stone, too, but I might have some other links in the very back of my head... They're both awesome, kay? Nuff said.
 

I'm just saying that two people basing characters and concepts on history does not make the two stories linked, but it does mean that they are drawing for the same sources. And why not? It is neat.

But if it's a link, it's a pretty shallow one.

Element, I'm a little about the same:) Out of curiosity i read a philosophy book called "History of thoughts" which contained much information about real alchemy and your so-called "linkings". This way you can really understand much more things (drawings and symbols on transmutation circles for example) in hagaren manga and anime. Real alchemy is pretty interesting ^^ (or should I say fanatic....;)

OK first off i don't mean chemistry i mean alchemy. Alchemy is its own field of science but it did in fact pave the way for modern day chemistry In fact many of the tools we use in the lab today were created by a female alchemist who's names escapes me at the moment nothing a little research couldn't find.

Now to tami yes thats nice i obviously looked up alchemy up on wikipedia but ya didn't need to copy and paste it but wikipedia since it is edit by the masses doesn't always have all the details. A few things first alchemy basically dealt with all elements(you might as well name of the periodic table of elements not to mention as an alchemist obviously Edward has to be well acquainted with them or boom or in his case a rebound.) and it is early alchemist that made most of the periodic table of elements and some of them often blew them selfs up because they didn't know about the reactivity of some of the elements. Alchemy sorta traveled around the world i forget how but thats why it was in all those places with each place contributing something new why do you think FMA mentions different kind of alchemy and the lace which is comes from. Another thing is the in the pursuit of gold often alchemist gave up trying to transmute gold and persuade spiritual enlightenment which is where the gate of knowledge comes in. Equivalent exchange is basically karma just reversed but reglion plays a huge role in FMA note scar and shambala.

I'm no expert on science, actually I suck horribly at it. What I do know, however, is that the history of alchemy versus some more complex sciences and religion is what truly caused the "art" to die out, so to speak, due to the Age of Enlightenment. It eventually gave way to medicinal science and such. Now, I assure you I'm missing a whole bunch of stuff, cause I'm horrible at science and the history thereof...

And the library would be a better place to research these thing instead of the internet, considering Wikipedia is NOT reliable, and I don't use it for stuff other than just quick things like that. I'm a war historian, and a soldier, not a scientist, so, sorry for sounding like a tard.
 

Its alright i hope i didn't offend you but i know wikipedia isn't exactly reliable And i have researched alchemy at the library its sorta of an obsession really.

And its a science rather than an "art" as you put it. Sorry just a small petpev.

i dont no if this has a already been mentioned but Alchemy is Chemistry, its just the arabic name for chemistry... Al-Chemy or rather Chemistry is the western version adapted many many years ago from the original Arabic name.

so in essence they are both exactly the same

from what I've heard about alchemy, it was quite popular in the medieval times, but I've not really heard about the transmuting stuff. I of course heard that Nicolas Flamel existed, somewhere in France, his house is now a restaurant I believe. Anyway, I thought that alchemists just tried to create gold and achieve eternal life by mixing all kinds of stuff. Lead looks, in terms of atomic structuren, the most like gold and due to the fact that lead is just a non-rare compound that can be found everywhere. Alchemists sought to make gold out of that. but just like mentioned in FMA, if they would manage to recreate gold the value of gold would drop, that's cause it could be remade and is not rare anymore...
