Announcements, announcements, anou~ncements!
Hey, so it's been a while! Anyway, I have a couple of announcements.
First off, about Pokemon Special (GSC arc). We had always been intending to go back to scanlating that, but as of now we are officially announcing that project dropped. The reason for this isn't because we don't love the manga anymore or anything - far from it! - but rather because Viz will be (finally) translating those volumes starting in August. (And non-flipped too, if you haven't seen the second edition releases up to now!) HOORAY VIZ!!
We highly encourage those of you who enjoyed what you did see to purchase Viz's releases (if you live somewhere where you are able to buy their releases, I am aware that the USA isn't the entire world or whatever). If you don't want to wait until August, there might be a certain website somewhere where you might be able to find scans of the Chuang Yi translations of volumes 8 through, like... 31. The name of this website might begin with "manga" and end with "fox," but that's just a might. One that you didn't hear from me, certainly.
Oh, but fair warning that Chuang Yi's translations suck pretty hard, at least during the GSC arc. I can't read them without going into an UNCONTROLLABLE RAGE!!!!!!
Now, I also have a second announcement. Though we are dropping the GSC arc, we will be picking up...

That's right, the HeartGold/SoulSilver arc of Pokemon Special is on its way, and we are TOTALLY on for the ride.
A bit of an explanation of how this will work, however, for those of you who are unaware of the way Pokemon Special is serialized in magazines. The preview pages above note that the arc will start on March 25th, but that's not the real first chapter. Pokemon Special is traditionally serialized in several magazines at once, meaning that there are as many as three chapters released a month; they're arranged in such a way that you could, in theory, read just one of the magazines that serializes the manga and you won't be totally confused by missing stuff in the other magazines, though the full story is covered by all the chapters. Once they're collected into tankoubon form, all of the chapters are arranged in a way that makes sense.
Don't think about it too hard or you will get confused.
The HGSS arc is being published in two magazines: Corocoro Ichiban! and Elementary School Grade 4. Ichiban! is published bi-monthly, and its first issue with the HGSS manga will be released on March 25th. Grade 4 is published monthly, and its first issue with the HGSS manga will be released on March 3rd.
Yeah, that means tomorrow.
SO BASICALLY. I'll be getting Grade 4 by Thursday or Friday, and you can probably expect a scanlation of the first chapter soon afterwards. \o/!

Also, we are working on some things, but RL has kept us from actually getting anything done yet. (I should be writing a research paper, but look at me fooling around with CDC stuff!) Be patient; we definitely have things on the way!

Subbed ED, and...!
HAHA. I forgot to mention in the last post that I was still working on subbing the ending. Sorry if that confused any of you!
It would have been done a few days ago but I kept needing to correct mistakes that I noticed only after I'd finished encoding and everything.

NOW. I also mentioned that we were going to be fansubbing a different anime, and some of you are probably curious what it is!
We will be subbing...
\o/ YAYYYYY it was probably kind of predictable but whatever.
Yes, it's very different from Fullmetal Alchemist, in that Hagaren is a shounen series with quite a bit of a dark undertone, and Doremi is a cute sugary shoujo anime geared towards girls around the ages of 4-7, but HEY. It's still awesome, and my absolute favorite anime ever. (Though it's not totally "happy-go-lucky always happily-ever-after!" and had me outright sobbing more than a couple of times when I watched it. Makes it even more amazing in my opinion!)
It's actually the fourth season of the Ojamajo Doremi franchise, but that's okay. Doremi fansubs have subbed the entire first season, most of the second season, and all of the OVA (which takes place during the third season). They've also subbed both movies (one for the second season, one for the third), and will probably be starting on the third season sometime this summer (my own estimation). (4Kids also dubbed the first season, and while others may disagree I think they did an amazing job with it.) If you don't feel like watching all those episodes, that's okay too! I'll be writing up a rundown of the important events of the first three seasons, to make it easy enough for people to just pick up with Dokka~n! if they choose to. :Dd
The first episode will be ready... soon? We've just barely started translation, and I'm waiting for the DVDs that malanhelen from Youtube have kindly offered us, but it shouldn't be too long. ♥ Hope at least some of you like it!
PS: we might be subbing something else at some point also.

So about those Hagaren subs...
Sup guys.
So, you may be wondering if we're going to be fansubbing the Fullmetal Alchemist episodes, as we had been considering. The first episode aired today, after all.
(Un?)fortunately, we will not. In light of FUNimation's aquisition of digital streaming rights we have elected to not sub the show. We encourage support of the American anime and manga industry, and while we did continue to scanlate the manga long after Viz had licensed it, this is a different matter - a matter of the official, legal version being available four days after Japanese airing.
Chances are we would have gotten a C&D by the fifth episode or something anyway. *shrugs*
SO. We encourage all of you in North America to watch FUNi's subbed version via their online video portal Thursdays at 10 am Central Time! If you live in a country that is also providing free official subs, go ahead and watch those. If you live in a country that ISN'T providing free official subs... well, there are other groups that are illegally subbing the series, like Shinsen. Or you could get behind a North American-based proxy and see if you can access FUNi's site that way. It might not work, but it's worth a try!
We will, however, be taking on another series to fansub. I'll announce that later, but if you've been poking about our Livejournals or Youtube channel or something chances are you have a pretty good idea what it is.
Also I'm subbing the opening and ending just for the hell of it. ENJOY!

So, here's the story. I'm trying to figure out how to make torrents and all, but the torrent for the Doremi episode a few days ago apparently wasn't working too well? (By the way, if you wanted to download that episode but the torrent wasn't working, here's a Megaupload link.) I'm not sure if that was a problem with my first attempt at making a torrent, or if it was just that there weren't many people who would want to download and seed it in the first place, though. :/
SO. I made a batch torrent with all six PVs that we've subbed, and hopefully it'll work better? WE'LL SEE.

Episode 17 of Ojamajo Doremi Dokka~n!, the fourth season of the Ojamajo Doremi series - which actually makes it something like episode 167 of the entire series but that's okay you can watch this episode without knowing much about the show. Seriously.
I subbed this to practice subbing a full-length anime episode, so that I don't get to the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist and go all like "lolwut." Any comments or complaints are more than welcome!
